And then I went out of town.  In the interest of packing light I packed only one paint brush, water color pencils and a pad of water color paper.  The painting that was resulted was, accordingly, a minimalist still life:

     I tried to redo our still life class assignment at home and this was my result:

This time the newspaper is a little more obvious in the vase and on the table.....

     Here is a still life that we did in class:


Our assignment was to be primitive and we were encouraged to use newspaper or decorative paper into the piece.  You can see newspaper in the the vase and on the table.  One interesting note about newspaper; the New York Times is the best, both substantively and functionally.

I left cats on Day 8 and tried to redo an assignment from class: flowers on a black canvas.  
Ugh.

So last night I gessoed the whole thing and it is now a horse!
